Michelle Slater is an Australian journalist and radio broadcaster. She is a staff writer and photojournalist at the Latrobe Valley Express and Gippsland Farmer, specialising in the region’s issues from energy and coal mining, through to agriculture and local community.
She was a former journo at The Numurkah Leader, and was part of the team that won a Victorian Country Press Association award for best community campaign about the towns’ flood mitigation.
Michelle also contributes to dozens of leading Australian and international online and print news and magazines, covering a range of hard news and features.
Michelle’s background is in radio and music writing.
She produced and presented a long-standing music program called the Dotted Line, on community radio station 3MDR 97.1fm, based in the Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne.
She has also guest presented on Melbourne’s 3PBS 106.7fm, and has appeared on ABC radio.
