The Corsairs found the MDR studio OK this week. We were looking forward to them playing on The Dotted Line back in October but they got lost on the way in.
Instead of coming to the studio in Emerald, they ended up at a pub in the middle of the city called the Emerald Peacock! Easy to confuse…not! They were looking forward to the idea of a radio station inside a pub, so we could party on while going live. We wish.
Unfortunately, we were unable to pull pints for the guys when they rocked into MDR to play a blistering set of summery tunes.
The St.Kilda based four piece play rock-pop with strong harmonies that bind the whole band together. They describe themselves as a surf band as their sound is so bright, it has that appeal of being on the beach on a summer day.
They played an incredibly powerful acoustic set which included songs off their I’m Feeling Social EP, as well as some new stuff that we hope will be out soon.
The Corsairs play regularly at places like The Espy and the Vineyard. They often play with The Latonas, who have that similar bright harmonious sound.
We also chatted with Dan Waters about his up-coming record launch at the Northcote Social Club on Nov 25. He told us about his new record, La Vita a Bella. It wasproduced by Wagons bassist Mark Dawson and features a heap of special guests including the magnificent harmonies of The Nymphs.
