Cat or Pillar-Live on The Dotted Line

21st September, 2011

Freeza- Battle of the Bands winners, Cat or Pillar are a young, Hills, five piece prog-rock outfit- they are this week’s featured artists on The Dotted Line. They squeezed into the MDR studio to play a couple tracks live-to-air.

The Freeza judging panel described this band as a “Mini-Meatloaf meets Muse”. The band played a stripped back acoustic set featuring acoustic guitar and djembe. The band’s new vocalist, Luke, who joined them only weeks before they won the Battle, was able to showcase his beautiful Jeff Buckley inspired singing style.

The epic-sounding band layer intricate sounscapes over keyboard and guitar harmonies. They gave listeners a taste of whats to come on their current 3- track demo, that is being put together by a Box Hill TAFE sound-teck student. To view the songs they played, please go to Play Lists.

Most songs are written by guitarist, Carl, who was embarrassed to be interviewed live on radio, in what was the band’s first media appearance!

The band hopes to go as far as they can, and will appear at the next round of Battle of the Bands in a few weeks in Mooroolbark. They can boast live performances at The Espy and an up-coming gig at The Tote to their emerging resume.

The Dotted Line supports live, independent local music.
